Avon Bottles

Recently I've realized that I have acquired quite the collection of Avon bottles. Being the nerd I am, I decided to see what other treasures might be out there that I have yet to come across. I found some true gems:

so precious!

barbie and ken meet

Oh they get me everytime! I still am a Barbie advocate over those truly heinous Bratz dolls. What is up with their googley eyes? They make me uncomfortable just looking at them. However Barbie, she's always been classy. When her dreamhouse wouldn't allow her disabled friend through the front door in her wheelchair, she recalled all of them and upgraded. Now that's what I call a real pal.

all hallows eve

My sister is more of a halloween enthusiast than I am, however, if I were going to make it simple this year I would definitely turn to etsy for some no hassle, cute cute cute costume ideas. Here are just a few I discovered whilst browsing, all of which are under the $20 mark! What a deal.

Why Can't I Live In The 60s?

Biggest dilemma of my existence! I decided to take action and do the only thing that could take me as close to living in the 60s as possible - apply for the Mad Men casting call competition. Here is my entry photo:

Here are some outtakes and accessory shots just for fun:

Thanks!

candy for days

The fair has come to town! My sister and I made the yearly pilgrimage to much dismay - the gold panning section has been removed! Aside from the 'Sips' pavilion, the only redeeming display was the sugar mountain history of candy.

I love love love vintage packaging. It was always so well thought out and appealing looking. All those happy looking characters.

mad men

You would be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't absolutely LOVE this television show. Seriously. The story line, the actors, the costumes (mostly the costumes), everything about it is perfect. Now is your chance to join this dreamy cast! Everyone should be applying for this if only as an excuse to meet Don Drapper. Sigh.

weezieduzzit

I decided to go platform hunting on etsy, as I seem to be stuck on the topic, BUT LOOK AT THESE THINGS! They are easily the most amazing shoes I have ever laid eyes on. The craftsmanship, the sheer genius of them. These should be in a museum:

Available at: Weezieduzzit

new york doll

My blue velvet platforms from Le Chateau (brand new from the 90s!!) were featured on this lovely little blog and were promptly snatched immediately after. The power of the internet!

Check out Nickie Noel's blog post on the New York Dolls and glam in general here

going green

Ever since I moved out on my own 4 years ago I have tried to be responsible for my actions (towards the planet that is....) my love of vintage stemmed from wanting to use things that already existed rather than constantly purchasing new and disposable products.

Recently, my sister started a very eye opening blog that makes you question many things in your everyday life. But fear not! It is the opposite of the doom and gloom blogs that are usually on the preachy side. Have a look for yourself and watch my sisters road to success (or ruin, it remains to be seen).

I'm a lumberjack, ok?

Another treasury, another cute item! Pleated plaid wool skirt (I'm gearing up for the fall already!) has been featured on a lumberjack treasury. How fitting.

Golfing Sweaters

New listings! I'm such a fan of a quirky v necks, it elevates a boring sweater! These are no exception, the first one with multi coloured stripes and the second one.... don't even get me started! Mini embroidered golf clubs and balls. THE CUTEST. If I were a golf enthusiast I'm sure I would appreciate it even more.

it's been real

Only  semi related to vintage... but my friend Robin and I answered a casting call for an Mtv reality television show. Here is our audition tape. (I talk about thrifting so it sorta counts right?)

I'm sure my blog cut off the side so here's the youtube link

And if you feel so inclined: Follow our Facebook fan page. That would rule!

creamsicle

Yet another pair of sunglasses featured in TWO treasuries. Ooh la la.

thanks dolls!

she's so unusual

Lots of 80's gems floating out of my closet as of late! Here are some eye poppin' duds:

Bit of an eyesore when they're all placed together. I'm really into patterned goods... I'm sure this will become all too obvious as the shop continues to grow! Speaking of which, thank you for all the comments, I was pretty sure I was just posting to no one, glad to know there are people on the other end of the line.

Something about all my silly shades are grabbing some serious ATTENTION. This one is on Coney Island. Having been there I could see these shades fitting right in!

red letter day vintage

it would probably be helpful if I may actually include a link to the bloody store. (how thoughtful?)

I swear I wasn't trying to keep it a mega secret or anything!

features!

2 pairs of my 60's sunglasses have been featured in 2 separate treasuries. I believe this is a good thing? Never happened to me before. I relish in the attention! THANKSSSSS.
